First of all, there were about 20 babies under 24months old. The woman running this had to think on her feet, because our group was much larger than in the past. She moved us to the community room. This program started off with several songs that had hand motions and a lyrics sheet. One of these songs was "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" during which the librarian came around and touched each child with a star wand. Then she read a board book. The librarian apologized about the book she was reading, because many of the board books were gone (because they had been checked out by patrons). Then we moved into the shaker songs where children got to use

Address: 1000 CHURCH HILL RD PITTSBURGH PA 15205 412.787.3906 Hours: Monday-Thursday 10am-8pm             Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm             Sunday Closed Date Visited: Tuesday June 6, 2017 What we attended: A portion of storytime and open play Thoughts: We missed most of storytime because we didn't actually see that on their events page when we decided what time we would go; we were going for the open play. When we got there we decided to register for an Allegheny County Library Card. We live in Butler County and I have no idea when this policy started but guess what all of PA? You can get a library card in Allegheny County for free!! A very wonderful woman at the front desk gave me the paperwork to get a card and hurried us up to storytime because she didn't want us to miss it. Storytime and the open play are held in the community room which is upstairs. They will happily give you directions at the front desk, which I suggest if you've nev

The Goal

A little about my family. I am a teacher and my husband works nights. We have an almost one year old boy who is adorable and also in a perpetual state of motion. Seriously grocery shopping takes 2 hours because everyone comments on how cute he is and he in turn tries to interact with literally every shopper and employee in the grocery store. Last time we were out at one point eight people were trying to engage in interactions with our son. So with our days free and our child yearning to engage with the outside world, we've started off on our adventure. Our goal is to visit as many public libraries and their programs for 1 year olds in Butler and Allegheny County. We're hoping to have some new experiences, read new books, and make some new friends. Come join us on our adventure as we catalog the journey to libraries near and far.
